Will Wade has returned to LSU for his second stint with the Tigers. He has moved past the doubts and questions over the decision. Wade has well and truly explained how his LSU team is set to be in the coming season. He revealed that his strategy was to bring international stars and that’s what he did in the transfer portal.
Many are calling this LSU team the most unorthodox or most unethical roster in the history of college basketball. For this season, LSU currently has a reported NIL budget of around $12.5 million. However, it isn’t near the largest budget of Kentucky, $21-23 million. But they have spent a lot of money in bringing in a lot of players.
Will Wade has not added a single player from high school. All the players have been from the transfer portal. Many are international pros and no one is younger than 20 years old. This has infuriated a lot of the fans as well as the analysts. Out of love for college basketball, many have criticised Will Wade. Most recently, Jeff Goodman unloaded on LSU’s roster and did not mince any words.
“Will Wade, I wish you didn’t come back to college basketball. I honestly I mean that. I like Will. I’ve known Will since he was an assistant at Harvard back in 2007, 2008. But man, you suck for college basketball right now. Seriously, you suck for college basketball,” Jeff Goodman started with some strong words at 3:53.
“You like you’re making it into a mockery and look in the mirror and understand it’s not just about you. This is about more than just you. This is about the sport of college basketball. Have some pride. Have some dignity. Don’t try to ruin the sport. Don’t try, you know, the first the first sign was when you hired Slick Rick Stansburg. That was the first sign when you got to LSU that you were going to muck it up as much as humanly possible,” he continued.
“I know people are trying to push the rules. I get it. Scott Drew did it last year with James Naji. Nate Oats did it uh last year uh obviously with uh with Charles Biako. But this is ridiculous. This is absolutely ridiculous. First of all, you got a second chance here after being run out of the sport,” Goodman didn’t hold back.
