Tom Izzo’s standing as one of the most successful and consistent coaches in college basketball has been established. He has been the leader of the Michigan State Spartans since he inherited the team in 1995, entrenched in highly reputed brutal lifestyles, discipline, and NCAA Tourney seasons. But how many times has Izzo guided his squad to the Final Four?

The Secret Behind Tom Izzo’s March Madness Dominance

His other trips to the Final Four came in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015, and 2019, all of which prove his ability to compete at the highest level again and again.
Well, Izzo isn’t for overbuilt programs that hoard top recruits over all years with completely raw talent.
He’s built success on shaping players and his blue-collar approach. His teams are known for hard-nosed defense, out-rebounding opponents, and coming into form at the right time. Michigan State is a dangerous opponent at this time of year because of all those traits combined.
