The Michigan Wolverines have secured the top seed in the NCAA tournament men’s basketball selection committee’s bracket preview. UConn is placed inside the top five, whereas Texas Tech is toward the bottom of the table.
The preview released on Saturday has placed Michigan at one, followed by Duke and Arizona to complete the top three. With 25 wins and just one loss, Michigan is the only team from the Big Ten inside the top five.
Number two-ranked Duke, with a 24-2 record, is the only ACC team inside the top 15. Duke is followed by two Big 12 teams, Arizona and Iowa State, with 24 wins, two losses, and 23 wins, three losses, respectively.
The fifth-ranked UConn is the only Big East team in the bracket with 24 wins and three losses. Fans don’t agree with the committee’s selection of the top 16 seeds.
“Uva being 16 with 3 losses kinda disgusting,” a fan wrote.
“Committee is WAY off. UConn has no business being five, St. John’s should be over Gonzaga, Virginia, Vanderbilt. Florida, Kansas > Purdue,” a fan wrote.
“Gonzaga over Michigan State is the dumbest shit I’ve seen.. The MSU resume is wayyyyy better than Gonzaga.. If Gonzaga was named Santa Clara they’d be in the 8-10 seed range.. They had a shit non conference season and then they play in the awful WCC.. Enough of the Gonzaga gift,” a fan wrote.
“UCONN ahead of Houston? Would love to hear your thoughts on that Jon,” a fan wrote.
“Arkansas or bama not being here is ridiculous. Gonzaga is not good at all,” a fan wrote.
“This is a joke. Illinois barely ahead of Purdue is a f**king joke,” a fan wrote.
Committee chair Keith Gill stated that “UConn’s three best wins are better than Houston’s three best wins,” and that the committee “weighted those wins a little higher.” Still, fans are unimpressed.
