Michigan’s Fab Five will reunite later today when the Arizona Wildcats take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Final Four matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The storied group will come together for an alternative broadcast of their alma mater’s game.
Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson will all be on site in Indianapolis to see the Wolverines in their first Final Four appearance since 2018. The alternative broadcast will air on truTV and HBO Max.
The Fab Five are members of the 1991 recruiting class who helped transform college basketball. They won two national championships in 1992 and 1993. Fab Five’s return represents what the first Final Four appearance for Michigan since 2018 means to the program.
The Michigan Wolverines have made a major turnaround this season. After struggling for the last few years, they finished the regular season as the best team in the Big Ten conference with a 35-3 overall and 19-1 conference record.
The Arizona Wildcats had a similar run in the Big 12 Conference. They have a 36-2 overall record, including 16-2 in the conference. A win tonight will help secure a spot in the championship game on Monday.
The other Final Four matchup happening today will take place at the same arena, hours before the Michigan-Arizona game. The Illinois Fighting Illini will take on the Connecticut Huskies for their spot in the championship game.
Dusty May Refuted the North Carolina Rumors
Following their first-round exit from the NCAA Tournament, the North Carolina Tar Heels fired head coach Hubert Davis. Since then, the Tar Heels have been searching for their next head coach.
Dusty May emerged as one of the frontrunners for the job because of the incredible work he has done with the Wolverines. The Tar Heels need someone like him to bring the program back on track.
Even if the Tar Heels are interested, May made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Michigan. He said that he’s very happy at Michigan and wouldn’t think about the outside noise.
“After last year, I decided that I’ll never, ever respond to any job speculation,” May said. “I made the comment that I was flattered about a certain job opening because of my background. That was misconstrued. And so I just decided that I’m never going to comment on any job that I don’t have.”
For now, May’s entire focus is on leading his team in the Final Four against Arizona and possibly securing a spot in the championship game.
