Iowa Hawkeyes’ Long-Awaited Elite 8 Appearance
The Iowa Hawkeyes have been a very good program for years. While they’ve been making the NCAA bracket consistently, their tournament run often gets cut short as they lose games early in the tournament.
This year, they’ve been on a great run and have finally secured a place in the Elite Eight bracket. What’s truly shocking is that the Hawkeyes have made the Elite Eight for the first time since their 1987 appearance.
Overall, this is their fifth Elite Eight appearance. Before 1987, they had been to the Elite Eight in 1955, 1956, and 1980. The Hawkeyes will look to defeat the Fighting Illini so that they can get a step closer to finally winning an NCAA title.
