Former Vanderbilt Commodores’ point guard Frankie Collins is being accused of running an online scam by Dug McDaniel. Collins is a 24-year-old college basketball player who last played for the Commodores in the 2025-26 season.
Before Vanderbilt, Collins played for three other programs: the Michigan Wolverines, the Arizona State Sun Devils, and the TCU Horned Frogs. The recent accusation against him was allegedly made via an Instagram story.
On3’s Alex Kurbegov posted a screenshot of McDaniel’s alleged Instagram story earlier today on X.
“Looks like former Vanderbilt guard Frankie Collins has gotten himself into another controversy with former Memphis guard Dug McDaniel calling him out for allegedly scamming people,” he wrote. “This isn’t the first time someone has claimed that Frankie scammed them.”
In the story, McDaniel posted an image and tagged Collins. He alleged that Collins has been doing the scam, and there are several people who are affected by it. McDaniel also detailed the kind of scam that’s allegedly being run by Collins.
“Scamming people for bread acting like he selling designer n shi just to scam a mf out they bread,” he wrote. “done gave dude multiple times to send my bread if u inna vegas area dm me rq. He done did this shi to hella ppl ik and he think issa game.”
The screenshot posted by Kurbegov on X was no longer available on McDaniel’s Instagram page at the time of reporting. In addition to that, Collins has not responded to any of the allegations publicly yet.
Frankie Collins is No Longer with the Vanderbilt Commodores
Collins had a good start in his college basketball career. He played 31 games for the Wolverines in his first season. Then he transferred to the Arizona State Sun Devils, where he became a starter for the first time.
Collins finished his second season at ASU, averaging 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.6 steals per game while shooting over 42% from the field. The last two seasons of his college basketball career were disappointing.
He played only nine games for TCU before transferring to Vanderbilt, and nothing changed for him after that move. He also played only nine games for the Commodores before suffering a knee injury. A month later, when he was cleared to play, Collins decided to not rejoin the team and withdrew from the school in March.
On March 27, he officially entered the transfer portal for the fourth time.
