Milan Momcilovic is officially a Kentucky player, and as he prepares to join his new team, his teammates seem just as excited to welcome the Iowa State transfer.
With a deal reportedly north of $6 Million, Momcilovic is going to enter the Wildcats setup full of expectation, but his teammates seem to believe this is going to be a great piece of recruitment from Mark Pope.
One of the latest names to speak out in support of the big man is Malachi Moreno, who is himself returning to Kentucky after withdrawing from the NBA Draft, adding a sense of familiarity to a team that is rebuilding with a fresh squad in the upcoming season.
“He’s a shooter. He was the best shooter in the country last year, so we knew we needed it, and he fits Pope’s offense perfectly, so we’re going to be dangerous,” Moreno said.
Are There Still Some Concerns at Kentucky?
It might seem like all is right again in Lexington, and while there is certainly a sense of optimism around the place, there are still some question marks for Mark Pope and his coaching staff to answer.
With Momcilovic and Moreno now involved, there’s no doubt that the Wildcats’ shooting and scoring will be taken care of, but the jury is still out on the defensive side of the game, and whether the superstars in Pope’s new squad will be able to coexist and work together for the benefit of the program.
An SEC title might be talked about for now, but unless things are done right in practice, the final result would be far from achieved for one of the most followed teams in men’s college basketball today.
