    Kelvin Sampson has always been a pro when it comes to figuring out which talent to employ at his teams, and that’s partly why he’s had the success that he’s had over the years.

    So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he knew exactly what he was getting when he decided to recruit Dedan Thomas Jr. out of the transfer portal for the Houston Cougars.

    Thomas, a junior at LSU in the 2025-26 season, is a point guard that gives Sampson exactly what he’s looking for, and he isn’t afraid to talk about it.
