Not every player leaves a legacy worth celebrating long after their college days, but Desmond Bane did just that. The Memphis Grizzlies guard received one of the highest honors from his alma mater, The Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs.
The school retired his jersey in a special halftime ceremony. The moment was a significant milestone in Bane’s career, marking his journey from an overlooked recruit to an NBA standout.

From College Star to NBA Success
After being selected 30th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and then traded to Memphis, Bane quickly proved his worth in the league.
His ability to shoot from deep and contribute on both ends of the floor made him a crucial piece for the Grizzlies. Now in his fifth season, he has solidified himself as one of the league’s premier shooting guards.
This season, Bane is averaging 18.1 points per game while maintaining a 39.3% shooting efficiency from beyond the arc. His growth as a player continues to be a testament to his dedication and the strong foundation he built at TCU.
