Dan Hurley’s Wife Andrea Reveals Superstitious Reason Behind Final Four Win Over Illinois

Dan Hurley’s wife, Andrea, is once again taking credit for UConn Huskies win in the NCAA Tournament. After preventing court-storming the other night in the win against Duke in the Elite Eight, Andrea believes she needs to be thanked for UConn’s Final Four victory over Illinois.

Many know Hurley is extremely picky when it comes to his outfits for the NCAA Tournament. However, on Saturday, the Huskies’ head coach forgot to bring his good-luck charm, a bracelet made of “holy beads,” for the Final Four game against Illinois. Hurley’s wife wasn’t going to let that happen as she revealed the entire story of how she made sure the bracelet was there for Hurley.

“I get to my seat last night,” Andrea said. “Luke Murray calls me and says, they call me Freddie, ‘Freddie, where’s the Holy beads?’ I said, they’re in the room. I had to leave the arena last night, run in the rain, get the beads. I was watching the game in the hotel room at the start, grabbed the beads. And then I got a police escort back with the Holy beads. So I saved it. The win is all mine. That is sensational.”

Actually, it was Andrea’s fault to begin with as well. She was asked by Hurley to fix the broken Holy beads and in the midst of chaos, she forgot.

Andrea also revealed that the beads came from church years ago and have become one of Hurley’s most important game-day rituals.

Dan Hurley’s Wife Andrea Reveals Terrible Condition of Special NCAA Tournament Suit

Dan Hurley is known to be extremely superstitious, even wearing the same suit and the same underwear during title runs in March Madness. Ahead of the national championship game against Michigan, Andrea described the condition of Hurley’s famous NCAA Tournament suit.

“It’s falling apart,” Andrea said. “It’s so embarrassing. He won’t even let me polish those shoes. Those are brutal. He looks like an unmade bed, but it’s 18-1. So I can’t wait for it to fall. And I actually bring it to the cleaners and they have ‘handle with care’ underneath, they do. It has like a special tag in it.”

Hurley himself confirmed the condition is even worse than it looks. The jacket is in “bad shape” as the suit has multiple holes in the sleeve and fabric sticking out past his shirt. In his words, the jacket is basically a “complete mess.” Despite what the condition is, Hurley is going to wear it on Monday night in Indianapolis.
