Dan Hurley and Dusty May have led their respective teams to the NCAA Championship game. The final matchup is being played between the UConn Huskies and the Michigan Wolverines at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Since it’s the biggest game of the season, there are a lot of pre-game activities that the coaches have to attend. One of them was the joint interview of the two coaches before their teams took the floor for the last time.
During the segment, Hurley gave a new meaning to the term ‘going head-to-head.’ The Huskies coach rubbed foreheads during their interview with Adam Zucker of CBS Sports. It seemed like a lighthearted moment between two competitors.
Once the video made it to the internet, fans started labeling it as ‘evil’ and an ‘alpha’ move from Hurley.
“One of the craziest alpha moves of all time Hurley is really a psycho,” a fan wrote.
“Another questionable Hurley head hug…what an evil guy,” a fan wrote.
“Dan Hurley is simply a monster. When will someone stop his reign of carnage!?!?” a fan wrote.
“That is NOT a “jersey thing” – it’s the action of a douche bag,” a fan wrote.
“Opposing coaches love him. He gets along with the media but he gets mad when his team gets screwed by the ref,” a fan wrote.
“I honestly don’t think Hurley is a bad guy at all. OSU used to have a hockey coach who was like Hurley on the ice and a completely different person off the ice,” a fan wrote.
At the time of reporting, the Huskies were trailing by 10 points against the Michigan Wolverines.
Dan Hurley Got Emotional Over the Last Trip
Hurley has been in this situation before. His team won the NCAA title in 2023 and 2024. Other than the pressure of playing the championship game, he knows what the last bus ride of the season with his team feels like.
During the interview, he talked about how he gets emotional every time.
“I cry a little bit. I’ve cried both times. You know that last trip out of the lobby with all your fans, and you know the love and admiration you have for your team for getting you to this point, and then on that ride over, a lot goes through your mind. We’re all humans,” he said.
He said that he takes pride in being one of the last two teams standing, and more importantly, he gets emotional over the fact that the group that’s been with him all season might not look the same once the season is over.
