Caleb Wilson Responds as Viral Moment With Kenny Smith Puts Him on the Map

North Carolina Tar Heels scorer Caleb Wilson has responded to a recent viral moment he had with a couple of legends from his program. On Saturday, Jan. 31, Wilson and the rest of coach Hubert Davis’ Tar Heels squad defeated coach Damon Stoudamire’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 91-75 on the latter’s home court, the McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Georgia.

After the game, Wilson was seen in a photo uploaded by NBA legend and former Tar Heels star Kenny Smith on his X/Twitter account. The two were standing next to UNC legend Charlie Scott. The three generations of North Carolina standouts met up after the away game, and it was the first time Wilson had met Scott. Wilson reflected on the legendary link-up with a singular word on his X, writing:

    “BLESSINGS.”

Wilson has made a great impact on the UNC program in just his first year, becoming one of the go-to guys of the Tar Heels’ offensive system.

In the game against the Jackets, Wilson led with 22 points on a 9-of-15 clip, along with six rebounds, five assists, and two stocks (steals + blocks).

Kenny Smith Recently Explained How He Introduced Caleb Wilson To Charlie Scott For Their Viral Photo

ESPN on X/Twitter uploaded a video of Kenny Smith talking about how he introduced Wilson to Charlie Scott. Smith revealed during the “Inside the NBA” segment that Wilson did not know who Scott was.

“A win, you know, we go through the ACC, it’s not like…Coming to Georgia Tech, you know, it’s not a big thing. Charlie Scott, yes, sir. You know what the great thing about today was? But Caleb had, didn’t really know who Charlie Scott was. Obviously, he’s too young. He shouldn’t have known. But Len explaining, I say, ‘Wait, Caleb, this is the first African American basketball player in the ACC and with North Carolina,'” Smith said.

“‘He’s not just, and he’s an NBA All-Star.’ And then he goes, ‘Really?’ I said, ‘Wait, and he had 2000 points in three years.’ He’s like, ‘Dang.’ He’s like, now he understood who Charlie Scott was,” he continued.
