Alabama guard Aden Holloway was arrested on Monday on a felony drug charge. According to reports on Monday, drug agents found a little over a pound of marijuana in the apartment where Holloway was arrested.
On Tuesday, the drug agents, serving a search warrant, said they found loose marijuana, a vacuum-sealed bag with marijuana, a rolling tray, and packaging material in the apartment.
“Holloway stated that he wanted to remain silent, but then stated that he only smokes,” an agent from the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force wrote in court records.
When Holloway was arrested on a charge of first-degree possession of marijuana, he was also charged with failing to affix a tax stamp, also a felony. The Tide guard was booked into Tuscaloosa County jail at 9:48 a.m. and later released at 10:45 a.m. on a $5,000 bond.
Aden Holloway Unlikely to Feature For Alabama in 2026 NCAA Tournament
Aden Holloway might not feature for Alabama in the NCAA Tournament, for the first game at least. On Monday, Tide coach Nate Oats said his team plans to prepare for its NCAA Tournament opener against Hofstra on Friday without Holloway.
“We got standards in our program and we’ve got ways we’ve held our guys accountable. And we try to keep everything in-house, obviously some of the situations you can’t, and this is one of those,” Oats said on his radio show Monday night. “We found out about what was going on this morning, I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. And we had to suspend him pending the investigation. …
“We’re certainly disappointed in his behavior. But that being said, we still love him; he’s still our guy. We’re helping him get the help that he needs, and we’re going to continue to help him whatever way we can. But as far as our team goes, I thought we had a great practice; we’re preparing to play without him this weekend.”
Holloway has been one of Alabama’s best players this season, averaging 16.8 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
No. 4 seed Alabama’s clash against No. 13 seed Hofstra will tip off at 3:15 p.m. ET on truTV. Fans can also live stream the game on Fubo.
