Lane Kiffin Extends Support for LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson Ahead of March Madness Clash vs Texas Tech

After defeating Jacksonville 116-58 in the First Round of March Madness, the LSU Tigers are going ahead to the Second Round to face Texas Tech. This game could be make-or-break for the Tigers, as its outcome will determine whether they can advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. And for this, they do need the best of wishes and luck.

Lane Kiffin, who was recently appointed as the new head coach, is already feeling the hype of the upcoming matchup. On X, he wished the Tigers’ star Flau’jae Johnson by posting her jersey and shoes. In the caption to the post, Kiffin emphatically wrote,

    “Gameday!!!”

He made another post on X of Flau’jae posing with what appears to be Kiffin’s nephew. Seems like Kiffin is more excited than anyone else for Johnson and the team to continue with their dominant form since their first-round victory against Jacksonville.

Kiffin was officially introduced as LSU’s head football coach on November 30, 2025. He left Ole Miss after an 11-1 season to sign a seven-year deal worth $13 million annually with the Tigers. With Kiffin’s arrival, LSU will look to actively restructure the program with aggressive NIL efforts and by adding key staff members like Tee Martin. With Kiffin’s arrival, the expectation is no less than a championship to come home to Baton Rouge.

Lane Kiffin has Hired Former Tennessee QB Tee Martin for LSU Staff

Under Lane Kiffin, the LSU Tigers expect no less than a championship going ahead next season. In an effort to overhaul LSU’s staff, Kiffin has hired former Tennessee national champion quarterback Tee Martin as part of his new coaching staff, as per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Martin will be an offensive analyst and is coming in after serving on the Baltimore Ravens staff since 2021 as a quarterbacks coach. He was also an assistant coach at Tennessee in 2019-29 under Jeremy Pruitt. He is most famously known for leading the Vols to a championship as a quarterback in 1998.

With Martin’s arrival, he will likely help mould QB Sam Leavitt, who Kiffin swiped from the transfer portal right after Leavitt finished his recruiting visit to Tennessee. Kiffin and Martin have a good experience working with each other after he hired Martin at Southern Cal. Since then, Martin remained with the team for seven seasons under three head coaches.

It would be interesting to see how this hiring pans out, especially during Tennessee’s home game against LSU on November 21 this year.
