After he suddenly left Ole Miss ahead of the College Football Playoffs, Lane Kiffin suddenly became one of the most hated men in Oxford, as the new LSU head coach was seen to have left his old team high and dry. He was soon replaced by one of his few assistant coaches who elected to stay at Ole Miss, Pete Golding.
The new Rebels head coach vowed to have the program move on from his former boss, with rumors going around that there is some bad blood between them. Golding himself has come out that he and Kiffin do not have any beef at all and effectively squashing those rumors.
“There is no ill intention, alright,” he told reporters. “I hope them well and all of that, and I appreciate him for the opportunity he has afforded me when I was there, and there is absolutely no bad blood,”
In response to this, Lane Kiffin himself also took to X to confirm that there is no “bad blood” between him and his replacement at Oxford, saying that he will just let his critics “make up” whatever storylines they want.
“Let them” make up whatever story lines they want to. One of a million they have.
After Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU, Golding stepped up big time, leading the Rebels to a deep CFP run, making it all the way to the semifinals, losing to Miami in the end. Many believed that run to be a Cinderella story, as the team appeared to have been left by their superstar coach for a higher payday only to make it all the way to the CFP Final Four.
Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss Breaks Silence on Lane Kiffin Exit
During Lane Kiffin’s time as the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, one player managed to stand out over everyone else, and that is Trinidad Chambliss. He went from an unknown Division II transferee to a household name and one of the best quarterbacks in college football. Kiffin’s departure also affected him, but he admitted he had no hard feelings about his former coach.
“I don’t know what it would have looked like,” he said.
Kiffin had been teasing that he wanted Chambliss to follow him to LSU. However, after getting another year of eligibility, the quarterback decided to stay at Oxford for his final season of college football.
