It looks like the NFL is not meant to be for Shilo Sanders, a former Colorado player and the son of Deion Sanders. In the 2025 NFL Draft, he went undrafted but managed to get an undrafted free agent opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He played reasonably well in the preseason, but ultimately didn’t stay with the team after striking an opposing player in the last game of the preseason and getting ejected.
Ever since, he has been biding his time in hopes that another free agent opportunity would appear. But the opportunity hasn’t presented itself, and he has to start wondering where his future lies. According to news reports, he has decided to bank on his famous last name as a way to find a paycheck.
Shilo Sanders has decided to enter the “Mr. Beast Games” in the hopes of winning the $5 million prize that is on offer. There are no details on whether he’s getting paid for appearing on the show.
Michael Irvin on Shilo Sanders’ Future
In December of last year, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders’ teammate at the Cowboys, spoke about Shilo Sanders’ future and about his social media game. While he said that he hoped Shilo would get another chance, he might inadvertently have shown a more realistic path for him in his comments.
“I see those clips with Shilo, Deion’s son, and I’m always sending them to Deion, laughing. Shilo is the funniest dude in the world,” Irvin said. “You can tell he’s a social media star. Anytime you see him on any of that stuff that Deion puts out, it’s always good stuff cause he’s just a good dude.”
“I like how he approaches, handles things. I hope he gets another opportunity,” Irvin added.
The fact is, Irvin was right at the time. While he hoped that Shilo Sanders could get another opportunity, his success, even while in college, came more via social media engagement than through on-field performances. His move to the “Mr. Beast Games” just recognizes that.
