Donald Trump is arguably more interested in sports than most recent sitting presidents, having regularly made appearances at UFC fights over the years. He has also attended football games before.
However, will the president of the United States be on site to watch the College Football Championship? Here’s what we know.
Donald Trump’s Plans for Indiana-Miami’s Upcoming Battle
According to a Wednesday report by Axios, Donald Trump intends to watch the College Football Playoff Championship in person. He is expected to attend the game alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“They like to bro out over football. It’s not all talk about Venezuela,” an insider reportedly told the publication.
The president hasn’t said which way he is leaning, but has praised Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza. However, he has more of a personal connection to the Miami Hurricanes, as his daughter Kai Trump attends the school. Rubio, Trump’s friend, is rooting for Miami, which could make things awkward if Trump sides with Indiana.
Will Donald Trump Appear In The Broadcast Booth?
Donald Trump has done in-game interviews before. In the NFL’s 2025 regular season, he appeared in the broadcast booth during a Washington Commanders game. However, most broadcasts reserve in-game interviews for preseason or regular-season games.
As such, the odds are low that there will be anything more than a camera shot of the president watching the game from afar. The players are likely to be the only ones interviewed, but there’s a chance the president could make a statement to a media scrum before or after the contest.
How To Watch the College Football Championship
According to the official Miami Hurricanes schedule, you can watch Indiana take on Miami on ESPN. The contest will be played at 7:30 PM EST. Those without cable can watch on YouTube TV, Sling TV, and Fubo.
The contest will not be available to watch via an over-the-air antenna.
