“He Won’t Be a Husker for Long”: Fans React as Nebraska Commit Trae Taylor Earns Elite 11 Finals MVP honors

The 2026 edition of the Elite 11 Finals saw the emergence of QB Trae Taylor as he was named the day-one MVP on the back of his standout performances in the drills and evaluations conducted in Los Angeles, California.

CFB analyst Hayes Fawcett also reported that the Omaha signal-caller’s day-one exploits mean that the four-star prospect is now all set to earn his fifth star soon.

This has but naturally grabbed the eyes of CFB fans online, acknowledging the pocket passer’s phenomenal work rate. However, a lot of fans on X also questioned if Trae, after his stellar show, will stick to his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a program that he committed to earlier this year.

“If so, he won’t be a Husker for long…”, wrote a fan.

“Terrible decision young man we actually send QBs to the nfl over here”, stated a fan.

“Dang. Need him to stay under the radar”, said a fan.

“Buddy should go where he can compete for a 🏆”, commented a fan.

“Most obvious bust ever”, stated another fan.

“How long until he realizes he can do better than Nebraska and de-commits?”, said another fan.

“But will he get it being committed to the school he is?”, commented another fan.

“Kid needs a new barber and a new school”, stated another fan.

Despite the Cornhuskers boasting a rich CFB heritage with a multitude of titles in the 90s, they haven’t been able to replicate those performances in recent years, which is partly why fans believe Trae’s commitment could change if a strong program offers him a spot.

Elite 11 Finals: Peter Bourque Claims Day 2 MVP Award

The hunt for the next big CFB signal caller continued in Los Angeles with the day 2 proceedings of the Elite 11 finals. Among the top 20 high school QB prospects, Peter Bourque’s performance earned him the day-2 MVP honors.

Post his high school football stint, the class of 2027 prospect will now play under the stewardship of head coach James Franklin at Virginia Tech after announcing his commitment earlier this month.
