LOOK: Hanna Cavinder Takes Playful Dig at Lane Kiffin After Beachside Basketball Game

Lane Kiffin has been in the news regularly amid his team-changing controversy, but the new LSU coach hasn’t let that stop him from getting outside. At least, that is what one recent photo with college basketball player Hanna Cavinder indicates.

In a Friday post on X, Cavinder tagged Kiffin on a picture of what appeared to be him and her on a blue basketball court outside under blue skies.

    “Took the L,” she posted.

The post suggests that the coach and college basketball player played a game on the court, of which Kiffin seemingly lost. However, Cavinder didn’t offer any details about the type of game or final score, only reporting that she won.

It was also unclear if the picture was taken before or after the game. If it was after the game, Kiffin showed himself as a good sport. Of course, as a coach and not a player, Kiffin isn’t assessed based on his athletic abilities or prohibited from extra-curricular sports.

Cavinder isn’t in college basketball or the WNBA, so she is also free to engage in sports at will on her schedule. However, the clock continues to tick for Kiffin to get as much fun away from football as possible, because the pressure is on.

Lane Kiffin Eyes Elevating LSU Fighting Tigers In Short Order

After the public exit from Ole Miss after a run of five winning regular seasons, including an 11-1 run in 2025, LSU fans have every reason to have high expectations for Lane Kiffin to work quickly.

LSU went 7-6 without Kiffin in 2025, so fans have a reason to expect the team to have a jump not unlike what Ole Miss experienced in Kiffin’s second season as head coach of the team. Under Kiffin, Ole Miss jumped from a 5-5 record in his first season to a 10-3 record in his second year (the team finished with a 4-8 record the season before Kiffin arrived).

With the team already coming off a year in which it was over .500, Kiffin already has a baseline of talent to work with, which means a step back or failing to elevate could be an early, nearly fatal blow to his run with the team.

Of course, if it doesn’t work out, Kiffin will have plenty of time to spend on the basketball court at that point.
