Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links GC played against Atlanta Drive GC on Monday in the TGL series and recorded their first win of the season. While the 15-time major winner has been focused on his recovery, Akshay Bhatia played for the team alongside Kevin Kisner and Max Homa.
However, Woods was there to cheer for his team, and in the postgame press conference, he talked about the event. He was asked if he said anything to the team in the locker room.
“No, we were just on a group text together, and we just had a lot of fun,” Woods said. “It’s normal team stuff. The great thing is we’ve all been together here. Akshay has been incredible to be a part of this team. We haven’t won a match in a couple years, so it was nice to actually get up on the right side of the leaderboard finally.”
Akshay Bhatia also talked about the game.
“It was fun,” Bhatia said. “Typically our first match we got up early and then lost some momentum. They had it early and we switched it so fast. It just felt like we were never going to lose that feeling. Obviously we all hit really good shots. This one feels really, really nice.”
The Jupiter Links Golf Club had an impressive start against Atlanta Drive GC and took a three-point lead after the triples format game. However, Atlanta Drive tried to bounce back in the singles game but ultimately lost the game 8-6.
Notably, the Jupiter Links Golf Club had so far played in three games in this season of TGL and lost two. They started the season against New York GC and then lost against Los Angeles GC.
Tiger Woods Provides an Update About His Injury
It’s been a while since Tiger Woods has been away from the greens. He underwent surgery in October and has since focused on his recovery.
This week, after the TGL game, he was asked about his potential return. In response, Woods said:
“Playing here? I don’t know. I like watching these guys. As far as competitive golf, it’s still some time.”
Tiger Woods has also not played in TGL events so far in the new season. It would be interesting to see if he returns to play on the PGA Tour or TGL events.
Moreover, aside from this, he can now also play on the PGA Tour Champions, as the five-time Masters winner turned 50 in December. Woods’ last official outing on the PGA Tour was back in July 2024. He played at the Open Championship and recorded two rounds of 79 and 77 and missed the cut.
