After a successful AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am outing at Pebble Beach, the PGA Tour is back at the iconic Riviera Country Club in California for The Genesis Invitational. The event hosted by Tiger Woods, returns to the venue for the first time in two years after being held at Torrey Pines in 2025. The second Signature Event of the season is set to tee off on Thursday, February 18 with a stacked field of golfers.
The latest edition of The Genesis Invitational will be headlined by some of the biggest names on the Tour including Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) No.1 Scottie Scheffler. While event host Woods stays out for recovery, players like Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay populate the field. Despite the star power, Scheffler remains the PGA Tour power rankings topper.
Scheffler enters the competition on the back of three back-to-back top-four finishes, including a win at The American Express. It is also noteworthy that the 29-year-old tied with Woods for the most consecutive top-four finishes on the circuit with eight since the 2025 Open Championship. WM Phoenix Open runner-up Matsuyama sits second behind the power ranking topper while Fleetwood completes the top three.
Collin Morikawa, coming off a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, sits next on the circuit’s power rankings list. Interestingly, McIlroy is outside the top-five despite being the second highest-rated player on the field. Event’s reigning champion Ludvig Aberg, who won the contest last year beating the likes of Maverick McNealy, Scheffler and Patrick Rodgers, is returning to defend his title this weekend. However, he is not on the top-15 list.
