The Genesis Invitational will be taking place this week, and with the tournament quickly approaching, there is a lot of hype surrounding it. After a year in Torrey Pines, the tournament is returning to the Riviera Golf Course, the home course for this event. This event will feature 72 golfers, and a total prize pool of $20 million will be on the line for them, which is one of the richest on the PGA circuit.
With all of these characteristics, the Genesis Invitational is truly a signature event on the PGA Tour. According to the PGA Tour’s official website, the signature tournament is a special competitive tournament for the best golfers, as there are ways for players to qualify for these types of events. Golfers can qualify for these tournaments in a variety of ways, including OWGR, FedEx points, the Aon Swing 5 qualification tournament, and a sponsor exemption.
Furthermore, signature tournaments normally include a small field of golfers who all play 72 holes. Interestingly, only three tournaments, the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, have a 36-hole cut after which only the top 50 golfers advance to play in the weekend game.
Another factor that has made fans excited about the Genesis Invitational is Tiger Woods’ involvement as the tournament’s host. The 82-time PGA Tour champion has been out of competitive golf for more than a year, and while his return is still a long way off, his increased presence on the Tour is an enticing aspect. The tournament’s power rankings have also been revealed, and here’s a look at them as well.
What are the 2026 Genesis Invitational power rankings?

The 2026 Genesis Invitational has one of the most competitive fields, with notable golfers like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, and others participating. Interestingly, given his current form, Scheffler is unquestionably the favourite to win the entire tournament. He is one of the best golfers on the Tour, and in his last seven tournaments, he has finished in the top four.
This year’s Genesis Invitational will also be a huge opportunity for Scheffler to make history as the second golfer to finish in the top four in eight straight tournaments. Only Tiger Woods has accomplished this accomplishment in the history of the game, which occurred in 2005/6. Trailing only Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood is second in the power rankings, and he, too, has a solid track record at Riviera Golf Club. After him, Rory McIlroy has taken third place on the rankings.
