Anthony Kim won his first competitive golf match in 16 years at the LIV Golf Adelaide. With this massive win, he completed his comeback story and has received appreciation all around the world. Kim was five shots behind the lead getting into the final round, but after nine birdies, he won the tournament by three shots over second-place finisher Jon Rahm. Kim also got a considerable number of points in OWGR from this win, which helped him climb a lot in the rankings.
Jamie Kennedy, Golf Digest’s digital content director, reported on the shift in rankings following the LIV Golf Adelaide, stating that Anthony Kim had jumped to 203rd in the rankings. He also disclosed that this is Kim’s first appearance in the top 250 in the Official World Golf Rankings in 2012. Along with this, Kennedy also revealed how Kim has surpassed big names like Cam Smith, Brooks Koepka, and many more.
The X post read,
“With his win, Anthony Kim has jumped to 203rd in the OWGR 📈 His first time inside the top-250 since October 21st, 2012. He’s now (officially) ranked ahead of players such as Cam Smith, Will Zalatoris, Brooks Koepka, and Luke Clanton.”
A few more wins like this could even allow Anthony Kim to return to the PGA Tour by qualifying for tournaments in which the OWGR’s top golfers compete. Kim discussed this as well, stating that he is confident in his ability to climb the OWGR further.
Anthony Kim says he can be at the top of the golf world once again

In an interview with the Irish Independent, Anthony Kim discussed the OWGR revisions, claiming that he believes himself to be the top golfer in the world. He added that he is a different person right now and that he aims to improve by 1% every day so that he may achieve whatever he wants from here. He explained,
“Well, I know the mainstream media isn’t going to pick it up, but for the people that do hear about it, I want to be a good example. I would say I wasn’t the best person, the best partner, the best son, whatever you want to call it, when I was younger. But who I am today is a completely different person, with God, my family, and my sobriety being the key things in my life.”
The golfer went on to add,
“Nothing’s holding me back. I just have to keep working 1 percent better every day. That mindset is something I’m going to carry with me to the day I die. So I don’t see why I can’t make it to the top again.”
During his prime years, Anthony Kim rose to sixth place in the Official World Golf Rankings, his highest ranking to date. If he wants to get past it, he must earn more than 160 points from the LIV tournaments.
