“OWGR Is a Joke” – Fans React As LIV Golf Unhappy With Latest World Ranking Announcement

LIV Golf is set to receive ranking points, but OWGR has mentioned that only top-ten finishing players will get the points. However, the Saudi-backed circuit is not happy with only a few players getting the points.

On Tuesday, February 3, the OWGR governing body announced that top-ten finishers would receive the ranking points, as they didn’t meet the criteria in certain areas.

Following the announcement, LIV Golf also released an official statement and cited its disapproval. The breakaway league called the decision “unprecedented” and unfair, and wrote that the sport deserved transparency and players deserved equal treatment.

Fans online had mixed reactions to LIV’s statement. While many sympathized with the PIF-sponsored league, some believed the decision was fair.

Here’s a look at some of the reactions:

“Owgr is a joke,” one fan wrote.

“Boo hoo. They’re lucky they’re getting any,” another fan posted.

“LIV may be able to ‘start’ this fight, but it’s hard to see them ‘finishing’ it, before there’s a knockout and they’re staring at the ceiling,” this fan commented.

One thing I have learned over this whole saga is that World golf is run by children and the American golf enthusiasts are not much better,” one user remarked.

“LIV means 56 but you play 72 the entire organization is a joke lolol,” this user opined.

“The level of competition is just not there when compared to the established tours. Worst sports business ever developed,” one fan posted.
