Golf Analyst Joins Nelly Korda in Slamming Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy-Led TGL for a Missed Opportunity
A golf analyst has backed Nelly Korda in criticizing the new direction taken by the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-backed TGL, calling it a missed chance to bring men’s and women’s golf together in one competition.
Earlier this month, TMRW Sports, the company founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy announced plans to launch a women-only simulator league called WTGL. The new league will run alongside Tomorrow’s Golf League, which debuted last year at the SoFi Center in Florida.
While the move was widely welcomed, Nelly Korda recently said separating the leagues was a “huge miss,” arguing that women should have been included in the main TGL teams instead.
That view was echoed on the Fore Play podcast, where analyst Trent said the league made things more complicated than needed.
“For TGL, I think they might have just overthought it. I think the common sense would have been, just throw them together. Get these personalities on camera together, clashing. It’s good for everybody,” he said.
“Adding the women to it would have been really easy and I think that’s Nelly’s whole point and I think a lot of people agree with it.”
When asked if TGL might change course and combine the leagues, Trent added:
“They should. Will they? I don’t know. You gotta say, you know, we had this big rollout and we made a mistake and Nelly made a good point and we’re now just gonna throw everybody together. That’s what they should do. A lot of people, their pride is at stake. They’ll have to admit a mistake but they should do that.”

TMRW Sports recently confirmed the first group of LPGA players set to take part in WTGL which is expected to launch in the winter of 2026–27. The list includes Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, Charley Hull and Brooke Henderson. Notably, Nelly Korda herself was not among the names announced.
The WTGL will feature players from the LPGA Tour, using the same simulator format as TGL, but the debate over whether women should have been part of the main league from the start continues to grow.

Charley Hull reacts to Nelly Korda’s take on TGL’s women-only league

While Nelly Korda has voiced concerns about TGL not mixing male and female players in one competition, Charley Hull sees things differently and is choosing to look at the opportunity in a positive way.

Speaking ahead of this week’s LPGA Tournament of Champions in Florida, Hull said she appreciates TGL for creating a platform for women golfers, even if it’s separate from the men’s league for now.

“I’m just grateful for them giving us an opportunity no matter what really. Could be something they build in the future, you never know.”

“I feel like them giving us an opportunity to go out there on the same stage as the guys, even though it’s not at the same time, fair play to them. Like I really respect that.”

Hull added that the format could still change in the future and grow into something bigger over time.

“You never know, in a couple years’ time they could do something like that. But like having an LPGA and the PGA Tour and now we have the Grant Thornton, you never know. That’s something they can probably build on.”

The English star recently attended a TGL match in Florida and came away impressed with the setup.

She praised the moving greens, the simulator technology and the overall experience, calling it “unbelievable” and something she would love to be part of. Hull also joked that a similar indoor venue would be perfect in the UK during colder months.

Both Charley Hull and Nelly Korda are currently in action at the ongoing Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. After two rounds, Korda sits tied for eighth at five under par, while Hull is tied for 14th place at three under par.
