Brooks Koepka teed it up in his first event on the PGA Tour after returning to play on the circuit this week at the Farmers Insurance Open 2026. The American golfer had an impressive start to his game and secured his spot in the final two rounds of the tournament over the weekend.
It’s a regular PGA Tour event and thus has a cutline after 36 holes, which was 3-under. Koepka had a phenomenal time and successfully made the cut. He had a tough start to the game, playing on the South Course with an opening round of 73.
But on Friday, playing on the North Course, he started the game on the tenth hole and made a birdie and an eagle on the front nine, while on the back nine, he added two birdies and a bogey. He settled for the score of 4-under 68 after the Friday round. With a total of 3-under, he successfully made the cut.
Meanwhile, Justin Rose is still leading. He played a bogey-free round on Thursday and then carded 65 on Friday, maintaining the lead in the game. Seamus Power played a round of 66 on Friday and jumped three spots on the leaderboard to settle in solo second place.
David Lipsky also had a notable game on Friday, and he added 65 and jumped 60 spots on the leaderboard to settle in a tie for 13th place. Some big names, such as Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Will Zalatoris, J.J. Spaun, Max Homa, Ludvig Åberg, and Billy Horschel, struggled with their game and missed the cut.
Brooks Koepka Opens Up About His Performance at the Farmers Insurance Open
In the post-round press conference after Friday’s round, Brooks Koepka opened up about his performance.
“It feels good,” Koepka said. “Just wanted to play four days this week, I think that was important. Played really solid today. Drove it a lot better. Putting, I feel like I hit a lot of great putts, they just didn’t go in. I felt like I was all over the lip today. But that’s golf. kind of poa greens.
“Maybe a touch conservative maybe putting, not as aggressive. I don’t know if those greens were a little bit slower but it felt like it. But that’s all right, got two days to figure it out and kind of really see where my game’s at, kind of take the reins off and go,” he added.
The third round of the Farmers Insurance Open is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Jan. 31. Koepka is scheduled to tee off in a group with Mark Hubbard and Rico Hoey at 12:45 pm ET on the tenth hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines.
The players will start at 10:55 am ET, with Tom Hoge, Taylor Moore, and Wyndham Clark starting the game on the first tee hole, and Adam Schenk, Karl Vilips, and Jackson Suber on the tenth hole. Tournament leader Justin Rose will tee off with Seamus Power and Joel Dahmen on the first tee hole at 1:07 pm ET.
