Charley Hull will be part of the launch group for WTGL after the new women’s team league confirmed its first set of committed players. The competition is being created by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA and is designed to bring a faster, team-based format to women’s golf.
Hull is joined by some of the biggest names in the game, including world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, three-time major winner Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, and Lexi Thompson. The league is being pitched as a global platform that mixes high-level competition with more fan access than traditional events.
TMRW Sports founder and CEO Mike McCarley said the goal is to showcase top talent while also letting fans see more of the players’ personalities.
“WTGL will be a global stage to showcase LPGA Tour stars,” he said. “These players will thrive in WTGL’s competitive environment as fans willwitness their skill and connect more deeply with their personalities through the unprecedented access the league delivers with every player mic’d in the modern match play team format.”
Each of the early commitments brings major credentials. Thitikul is the current world No. 1 and won three times last season. Hull, ranked inside the top five, has multiple LPGA wins and has been a regular on Europe’s Solheim Cup teams. Ko is already a Hall of Famer with three majors and Olympic medals to her name. Henderson is Canada’s most successful golfer with two majors and 14 LPGA wins. Thompson, a longtime fan favorite, owns a major title and has been a mainstay in Solheim Cup competition.

LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler said the partnership is about finding new ways to grow the game and reach more fans.

“I’ve seen how new formats can engage audiences while showcasing both athlete personality and performance, and WTGL brings that spirit of innovation to the women’s game.

“It creates another global stage for our athletes – one that helps fans connect more deeply with them and continues to elevate the visibility and growth of women’s golf.”

WTGL will serve as the women’s version of TGL, which is currently in its second season. While a full schedule has not yet been announced, the league is expected to launch next year and will follow a similar team-based, tech-forward format.

What can be expected from WTGL?

WTGL is being built as a faster, more interactive version of traditional team golf. Matches will be played in a controlled indoor setting, allowing for a quicker pace and more continuous action compared to standard tournament rounds.
One of the main goals of the league is to bring fans closer to the players. Golfers will be mic’d up during play, giving viewers access to in-the-moment reactions, team discussions, and decision-making. The format is designed to highlight not just shot-making, but also personality, chemistry, and strategy.
Technology will play a major role in how the league is presented. Shot tracking, real-time data, and on-screen analytics will be built directly into the broadcast, helping fans understand why certain choices are being made and how players are performing.
WTGL is being developed by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA, with backing from Alex Morgan’s Trybe Ventures. It is the company’s second major project after TGL and is meant to introduce a different way of experiencing women’s golf, especially for younger and digital-first audiences.
