Following his win in his first LIV Golf start, Elvis Smylie has labeled his Riyadh triumph as a “dream come true.” The Australian star admitted that he didn’t know what to expect and only wanted to make a statement to the world.
On Saturday, February 7, Elvis Smylie shot an 8-under 64 in the final round of LIV Golf Riyadh to beat Jon Rahm by a one stroke. The Australian golfer, who replaced Matt Jones on Ripper GC also helped his team win the team portion.
During the post-round interview, Smylie reflected on his LIV Golf Riyadh 2026 win.
“It’s a dream come true,” he said. “I really didn’t know what to expect this week. Playing at night is obviously a whole different ballgame out here. I wanted to come out here and make a statement. I wanted to prove that I’m one of the best out here, and I feel like I’ve done that, and it’s only up from here.”
The young golfer also shared the details about his mindset during the final round.
“On the outside I probably looked quite calm and composed,” he added. “And that’s something that I work hard on with my sports psych back at home, Michael Lloyd. I really just tried to embrace every moment tonight. I knew there was a world-class field trying to chase me down. “I’ve got so many amazing people around me, and it’s a special feeling.”
