Brooks Koepka Breaks Silence on Patrick Reed’s ‘Traditionalist’ Comment After LIV Exit

Brooks Koepka has broken his silence on Patrick Reed’s “traditionalist” comment after leaving the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf. The five-time major champion gave a neutral remark on Reed, stating that everyone has their own idea of tradition.

Koepka is in Scottsdale this week for the WM Phoenix Open 2026, which tees off on Thursday, February 5. This is his second event on the PGA Tour after leaving LIV Golf in December. Following him, Patrick Reed also left the Saudi-backed circuit, stating that he was a traditionalist at heart and “born” to compete on the PGA Tour.

During the pre-event press conference of the WM Phoenix Open, Koepka was asked about Reed’s comments.

“Everybody is their own man,” he said. “Everybody is a little bit different. Everybody has their priorities. I don’t know what his priorities are. As long as he’s doing what’s best for him and doing what’s best for his family, I’m all for whatever he needs to do.

“Everybody’s idea of tradition is a little different. So it kind of depends on who you’re asking,” he added.

While Koepka has started his second stint on the PGA Tour, Reed will have to wait until August before he becomes eligible to compete on the Tour.
