“We are thrilled to partner with TMRW Sports to be a founding owner in WTGL,” Blank said as per tMRW Sports. “The growth of women’s sports over the past few years has been remarkable, and as we’ve seen through our other golf properties, women and girls are participating in the game at a higher rate than ever before. We are excited to provide a platform for the topgolfers in the women’s game to showcase their talent and personalities while competing for championships for Atlanta.Atlanta Drive GC has established itself as a premier team in TGL, winning the inaugural SoFi Cup, and we aim to replicate that success with our WTGL team beginning this upcoming winter.”
“As WTGL begins to take shape, adding sports leaders like Arthur Blank and the experienced team at AMB Sports and Entertainment is another substantive step toward building a premier platform for women’s team golf,” said McCarley. “Partners like Arthur Blank recognize the opportunity women’s sports represents in the modern landscape and specifically the growth opportunity for women’s golf. WTGL’s fast-paced, team golf format will appeal to the modernsports audience and drive engagement between the LPGA Tour stars competing and a broader spectrum of new fans.”
Arthur M. Blank reveals why he invested in WTGL?
In the press conference of team announcement, Arthur M. Blank revealed that the TGL success drove him to invest in WTGL.
“As long as the momentum behind women’s sports really across the United States, if not the world then certainly across the United States in whether it be basketball or whether it be golf or whether it be soccer, we just announced the WSL, a new franchise. So WTGL is a perfect fit for us.”
“Golf itself for women is moving exactly in the right direction. Post-COVID, golf and women are up by close to 50 percent, the biggest increase in any demographic, which is unbelievable. Women today represent almost 28 percent of the rounds of golf played, which is great. The other factor, which is that women are participating in simulation golf, et cetera, at close to 50 percent of all the participants who play simulation golf.”
Besides TGL and WTGL, Arthur M. Blank has also invested in other sports and owns teams like the Atlanta Falcons (NFL), Atlanta United FC (MLS), and NWSL Atlanta 2028. He has also invested in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and PGA Tour Superstore.
