The Masters Tournament is three months away, but LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has already started preparing for it. The two-time major champion recently made a visit to Augusta for a scouting mission.
The Masters Tournament is set to take place from April 9 to 12 at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. DeChambeau has had decent outings here the last two years but has struggled to get over the final line.
Bob Harig of Sports Illustrated reported that DeChambeau did a scouting trip at Augusta on January 3rd alongside his caddie, Greg Bodine. The LIV Golf star revealed that he used Augusta’s caddie, as the rules dictate, while his bagman accompanied him to chart the course.
“I was there just for a day,” he said as per Sports Illustrated. “I played in October but that was with a friend. I wasn’t there to grind. We were there to have some fun. But the golf course is in great shape. It’s funny, little things can inspire people. This going in January thing has become a little bit of a tradition. Helpful. It’s just to get my mind focused on the task at hand this year. I need to take care of the job that week.
“We just get a better understanding of where things are and get really comfortable early on. You kind of go over the greens, see what has changed, what surfaces and the wind conditions. It’s getting more comfortable and understanding different wind conditions. It’s fun to be there in October and then January gets a little different wind,” he added.
The three-time LIV Golf champion added that the conditions were chilly, which made them difficult compared to the summer.
While DeChambeau doesn’t have a great overall record at the Masters, he has been impressive in the last two years. In fact, he took a momentary lead in 2024 and eventually finished sixth.
DeChambeau had a good 2025 Masters until the final round, where he fell behind after shooting a 75. This time, the star golfer will look to improve his iron play and perform better in clutch situations.
