Gerad Parker Salary, Contract, Net Worth, and More

Gerad Parker is tasked with continuing recent success for the Troy Trojans, but what is his salary, contract, and net worth as their new head coach?

The Troy Trojans had become a Sun Belt power in recent seasons, before head coach Jon Sumrall departed for the Tulane Green Wave.

Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is tasked with continuing the Trojans’ recent run of form. What will Parker’s salary, contract, and net worth be as the new Troy head coach?

Gerad Parker’s Salary and Contract in 2024

Parker’s salary as the Troy head coach has yet to be widely publicized, and no information is currently available regarding contract length. Furthermore, his recent stop at Notre Dame has made it difficult to ascertain as they are not obligated to release financial about their coaches as a private institution.

As a result, Parker’s salary is subject to speculation. At West Virginia, he made $600,000 as offensive coordinator in 2021 before departing for Notre Dame as the tight end coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish ahead of the 2023 college football campaign.

Last season, Troy paid Sumrall $1 million, a figure that tied for the highest-paid head coach in the Sun Belt. Amidst speculation that their former coach was offered a four-year, $1.3 million extension to stay with the Trojans, it’s likely that Parker’s salary approaches — but does not quite reach — the seven-figure mark.

As with any standard head coach contract, Parker likely has escalator clauses giving him bonuses for championship and bowl game appearances.

Parker was something of a dark horse candidate in the last coaching cycle. However, his performances as offensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish clearly proved alluring for the Trojan’s hierarchy.

“Gerad Parker is a proven winner with an infectious personality and passion for success who has significant experience at some of the best programs in America,” Director of Athletics Brent Jones said during the official announcement of Parker’s appointment as Troy head coach.

“He competed in the SEC as a player, has been a recruiting coordinator in the Big Ten and has coordinated highly productive offenses in the Big 12 and now at Notre Dame. He has an extremely diverse background that spans from coaching in high school, the FCS and throughout FBS in the SEC, American, Big Ten, Sun Belt, ACC and Big 12.”

“His proven pedigree will maintain our status as the leader in the Sun Belt Conference and the Group of Five. Gerad’s energy and dedication to building relationships with the community, fans and student-athletes will resonate with all of Trojan Nation.”

A former college receiver for Kentucky, Parker had his share of frustrating injuries as a player and entered the coaching world in 2005. He quickly rose through the ranks, and although Troy is his first appointment as a college football head coach, he was the interim head coach for six weeks in 2016 at Purdue.

Parker’s Net Worth

Due to Parker’s rapid ascent in the coaching world, he has only recently begun to make the type of coaching money we’re accustomed to seeing in the FBS coaching world.

Given his recent known salaries, his net worth is likely in the $1 million range. As recently as 2018, he worked as an unpaid offensive assistant. In 2020, he made $533,000, and in 2021, he made $600,000 at West Virginia before moving to Notre Dame.
