Most people will say that Fernando Mendoza is the best quarterback in the country today. Fernando recently concluded one of the best seasons ever recorded by a QB. From the Heisman Trophy and AP College Football Player of the Year to winning the national title with Indiana, he showcased individual brilliance as well as leadership.
The Hoosiers remained unbeaten throughout the season and defeated the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 in the final. But if you ask Fernando, he’ll disagree on being the best QB in the country.
His brother and the backup quarterback for the Hoosiers, Alberto Mendoza, recently announced his exit from the program. The decision came only a day after he was crowned the national champion with Indiana.
As per On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Alberto is transferring to Georgia Tech. Following the announcement, Fernando shared On3’s graphic on his Instagram story and stated that Alberto is, in his opinion, the best quarterback.
“Best QB I know,” he wrote.

Alberto made the official announcement on his Instagram profile hours ago. He said that being a part of the Hoosiers program has been “one of the greatest blessings” of his life and that he’ll forever be grateful for the experience.
“After a lot of prayer, reflection, and conversations with my family, I’ve decided to transfer to Georgia Tech. This wasn’t an easy decision, but opportunities in this game are short, and sometimes chasing your dreams requires difficult choices,” he wrote.
He thanked his teammates for being a part of his journey and believing in his talent. Although he’s moving on, Alberto said that the group will forever be a part of his story.
Fernando Mendoza’s Mother’s Reaction to the Title Win
Some high-profile names attended the final game in Miami Gardens. But the most important people in the crowd for the Mendoza brothers were their parents.
After Mendoza won the national title, his parents were seen emotionally celebrating the win. They even had a brief conversation with the media and expressed how they felt about the win.
“This is just so special because I know how bad he wanted it,” Elsa Mendoza said. “I know how hard he worked to get here. So, yes, that hug means the world.”
Mendoza also shared a heartfelt moment with his parents as he gave them a big hug after taking his team to victory.
