Darian Mensah has been in the spotlight in the past week after revealing his intent to enter the transfer portal. The Duke quarterback reportedly has plans to transfer to Miami, but the Blue Devils are now looking to block the move.
On Tuesday, college football insider Barry Jackson claimed that Duke had initially informed Mensah’s representatives that it would cooperate in helping the QB enter the transfer portal. However, the Blue Devils changed their mind and sued Mensah on Tuesday.
“After initially telling top QB Darian Mensah’s rep that they would cooperate and enter him into the portal at his request, they’ve apparently changed their mind. Duke sued Mensah on Tuesday, as Sportico said, and seeks an injunction and restraining order to block Mensah from leaving. Mensah intends to join UM if he can legally, per source,” Jackson tweeted.
Duke filed the lawsuit against Mensah in North Carolina. The Blue Devils have alleged that Mensah’s transfer would not only breach the contract that he signed with the school but also cause irreparable harm to the program moving forward.
