Fernando Mendoza may be the projected No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft this year, but he just did a daunting task, connecting with Olympic Gold medalist Alysa Liu. Mendoza, a College Football National Champion with the Indiana Hoosiers, tried to do the Olympic Gold Medal bite, but did it with a Fortnite gold crown. He then tagged Alysa Liu, asking her if he was doing it right, and the figure skater soon replied.
“Hard launch,” wrote the fan who shared Alysa Liu’s Instagram Story.
This soon had all sorts of people talking, with some cheering Fernando Mendoza on, while others noted that she may already have a boyfriend. Others noted that they are just appearing in a stream together and playing Fortnite.
“Doesn’t she already got a bf or some shit,” said one fan.
“she’s with Glaive (allegedly) and Mendoza has said his only love is football & his momma. theyre gonna get paid to play fortnite on a stream or something. RWers not be weird upon seeing a woman challenge (impossible),” noted another person.
“honestly they’re kind of perfect for each other,” said one person.
“this is clearly a sponsored post. why are people pretending like this is for real 😭✌🏾,” one X user pointed out.
“i know this is manufactured by epic but I WANT TO BELIEVE,” said a fan.
“They’re perfect but in the most non weird to say that possible like I just really think their personalities match 😭💔,” added another person.
Mendoza has actually partnered with Epic Games to promote Fortnite, often mentioning the game or Epic Games in his exchanges.
Raiders Legend Has High Hopes For Fernando Mendoza
While Fernando Mendoza has been playing some Fortnite as of late, the quarterback is still expected to be the No. 1 overall draft pick for 2026. The team that has that pick is the Las Vegas Raiders, and former Raiders QB Derek Carr has high hopes for the probable top pick.
“I hope Fernando Mendoza breaks every Raider record,” he said. “As a former quarterback, if you feel any other way, there’s something wrong with you. Why wouldn’t you want the next generation to do better than you? Like, I want the best for everybody.”
Carr currently holds several Raiders franchise records, including 35,222 passing yards, 217 passing touchdowns, 3,201 pass completions and 4,958 pass attempts.
