“Looks Like a High School Team”: Fans Question JuJu Lewis & Co.’s Size After Spring Practice, Raising Early Concerns About Deion Sanders’ Colorado Era

Deion Sanders’ time at Colorado as their head coach has been full of ups and downs. At the beginning of his tenure there, he got a lot of praise and support from many fans and celebrities. The conversation quickly turned when the Buffaloes started losing the games and ended the year with a 4-8 overall record.

The 2024 season, however, was a breath of fresh air with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter leading the way to a 9-4 overall record, and the latter even winning the Heisman trophy honor.

Deion’s program faced difficulties again in the 2025 season as they played around with three different quarterbacks and ended the season with an overall record of 3-9.

While Coach Prime got some grace after last season, as it was their first one without Hunter and Shedeur, the fans won’t have a lot of patience going forward in his 4th year with the program, especially after a concerning video of the Buffs went viral on Saturday.

Many fans and analysts expressed their concern over the sizing of the Colorado players as they came out to the field for their spring practice.

“Looks like a high school team lmao do yall have a weight room?” One fan questioned.

“They dont look like a team that could beat any team in the SEC or big 10. They just look like they belong in group of 5 conferences. What is going on with the nutrition program there?” another fan reacted.

“This certainly has me concerned for the Buffs. Maybe just a poorly timed video? Can anyone actually at the game give any better insight?” another fan expressed their concern.

“These fools have been undersized for years. All they know to do is fight in practice and pray that Deion’s rep is enough to get em considered for the draft.” Another fan said.

“Coach prime ain’t gonna be there much longer . He’s done a horrible job there and can’t get any good players to go to Colorado.” Another fan shared their thoughts.

“That’s what happens when you choose to not recruit out of high school. You’re left with these D2/D3 players and low star recruits that are over looked and under sized.

“There’s a reason why Colorado is not successful under Deion. Cuz he doesn’t give a shit about high school recruiting and when these portal players are looking for a place to play, they don’t have the money and they know Deion can’t coach a winning team without Travis Hunter and his son. So they choose to go somewhere else with more money and a better opportunity to win and go to the league.” Another fan pointed out.

Deion Sanders Offers Positive Health Update

The 2025 season was not an easy one for Deion Sanders, as he joined the team after battling a long journey with cancer.

Sanders was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2025, due to which he underwent a rigorous surgery and spent a few months after that recovering.

Now that it’s been a year since the diagnosis, Coach Prime told the media at spring practice that while he did go to the hospital recently to take care of a recurrent blood-clotting issue, he has been feeling good now.

“Everybody inside these doors can tell you, it’s different when I’m here,” Sanders said, according to the Associated Press. “I’m going to take my breaks, like every other coach, but I love to be here.”

Coach Prime also underwent toe surgery in 2025.
