Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards will be out for this weekend’s clash with Texas Tech as he continues to recover from an injury that has ruled him out since October 4th. On Monday, Pete Nakos on On3 Sports reported that Edwards will not be playing against the Red Raiders, which was also confirmed by Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman. The recent imaging shows that the injury hasn’t healed, and Klieman also reported that Edwards’ body isn’t ready yet.

As one of the most explosive players in the Big 12, Edwards was expected to be important in the Wildcats’ offensive game plan this season. In the 2024 season, he was able to collect over 700 all-purpose yards. In the last three games without him, the Kanaas State team has been able to go 2-1, but overall, Edwards’ up-and-down status has changed the expectations for the Wildcats this year.
No timetable has been announced for his return yet, although Edwards is considered week to week based on his most recent update. The Wildcats’ priority will be to get their star back as soon as his long-term health is no longer in question.

Can The Wildcats Win Without Edwards?
Texas Tech will be one of the toughest matchups that KSU will play all year. They are already sitting at 5-3, and right now, Joe Jackson has been picking up the pace in place of Edwards. He has gotten over 50 yards in his last three games, and the Wildcats are also coming off a dominant performance against Kansas.
The Wildcats will have to be in control of this game from start to finish, with their offense not at full strength. Avery Johnson will also need a big game, which is expected after he has struggled through the first half of the season.
K-State still has the capabilities and players to win without Edwards, but this weekend will be a difficult test. On the positive side, Chris Klieman is still looking for his signature win this year, the game is in Manhattan, and the Wildcats have some continuity at running back. The other side shows injuries and a Red Raiders team that has dominated on both sides of the ball.
