Analyst Names SEC Powerhouse As Way-Too-Early 2027 College Football Championship Favorites After Massive Transfer Portal Overhaul

The 2025 college football season officially came to a close with the Indiana Hoosiers emerging as the national champions after defeating the Miami Hurricanes with a scoreline of 27-21.

This has prompted a lot of people to start looking at the next season, predicting and singling out teams that have the potential to overthrow the current Hoosiers side.

However, in a way-too-early 2027 college football prediction, CFB analyst and former Penn State and UMass tight end Adam Breneman named who he thinks could have a fruitful 2026 season and be potential 2027 national championship winners.

Breneman’s Instagram post saw him explain why he thinks the Texas Longhorns have the best offense heading into the 2026 season.

“So Texas went out and landed the No. 1 wide receiver in the transfer portal this year, Cam Coleman, a former five-star who produced despite unstable quarterback play at Auburn”, Breneman stated.

“Now look at the pieces around Arch Manning. A true wide receiver 1A and 1B combo with Coleman and Ryan Wingo. A reliable producer in Emmet Mosley, speed and versatility in the backfield with Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown and multiple tight end options that allow Texas to stay multiple without tipping its hand” he further elaborated.

In addition to reinforcing the Longhorn’s offensive squad depth, Coleman’s signing came on the backdrop of the Longhorns losing wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr. to the transfer portal. His inconsistent performances as highlighted by Breneman saw him throw for 708 yards alongside five touchdowns for the Tigers in 2025.

Breneman also explained the fact that Manning doesn’t have to carry Texas alone anymore. This is what makes this offense different than what they had last season.

Breneman, towards the end of his post caption, wrote how he thinks Texas could be the team to beat come next season.

Breneman’s Instagram graphic saw Manning and his teammates being featured in it along with a question mark around their potential 2027 Natty win.

Strong Longhorns Season Could Push Manning Toward 2027 Draft

Before officially announcing his decision to return with the Texas Longhorns ahead of the 2026 college football season, there were plenty of talks around QB Arch Manning potentially putting his name in the 2026 NFL draft.

If Texas do go on to have a good season as Breneman suggests, Arch Manning could potentially be one of the first draft picks come 2027.

Meanwhile, the 2025 CFB season saw Manning throw for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and 7 interceptions across 13 games. He also ranked 23rd nationally in passing yards and tied for 16th in touchdown passes.
