Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders had a lot of health struggles last year. It took away his focus from the team for a while, but Coach Prime stayed committed to making the Buffaloes one of the best teams in the country.
This year, he is coming back with new energy. He is taking better care of himself and his health. Fitness has never been an issue for him, but Coach Prime is going the extra mile to ensure that he remains available for his team.
During his recent morning run, Sanders met two people sitting on a bench. Once they realized who he was, one of them said, “It’s Deion.” Coach Prime didn’t appreciate being addressed like that, and he corrected them before giving them fist bumps.
“They call me coach around here,” he responded.
This was a lighthearted encounter, and the two boys called him “coach” before he continued his run. However, the interaction didn’t sit well with some fans on the internet who believe that the demand from Coach Prime was unnecessary.
“I’ve never understood people wanting to be called coach from people that they aren’t coaches of. Lol,” a fan wrote.
“Hardly disrespect. If you’re not on the team, why would you call him coach?” a fan wrote.
“Student: ‘How you doing Deion?’ Coach Prime: ‘They call me Coach… or get these hands on the next lap’,” a fan wrote.
“It’s disrespectful to actual coaches to call Deion a coach,” a fan wrote.
“I like Deion but if u aint my coach i don’t have to call you sh*t,” a fan wrote.
The responses are unjustified because it’s common practice to address coaches with their job title. And in case one doesn’t like to adhere to that practice, addressing Coach Prime as “Deion” is wrong too because they’re obviously not on first name basis with him.
Deion Sanders on Getting Closer to God
Sanders is a spiritual person. He believes in God, credits God for his success, and likes to spread that message among his followers. He recently teamed up with some of his friends in Hollywood to get closer to the Lord this Lenten season.
“Look, y’all, I’ve been looking for a while now to find ways to get closer to God. Wow. I gotta get closer. I just need that intimacy. I just need that together, that unity, all of that,” he said in a video posted on Instagram.
Mark Wahlberg, Chris Pratt, and others are also associated with the Hallow app, and Sanders asked his fans to join the app to pray for 40 days challenge.
