Connor Bazelak’s Remarkable Journey: From SEC Star to Bowling Green’s Powerhouse QB Began In High School

Connor Bazelak's college career is a testament to one's believing in themselves and dedication to their craft. It all started in high school for Bazelak.

Connor Bazelak is a testament to hard work and dedication to one’s craft. From the SEC to the Big Ten and ultimately to the MAC, he’s also a testament to believing in one’s self all the same.

That all started for Bazelak in high school.

Where Did Connor Bazelak Go to High School?

A former four-star recruit from the state of Ohio, Bazelak starred at Alter High School in Dayton. There, he led the Knights, in a powerhouse portion of Ohio High School Football, to great success and elevated the talent around him to national levels.

His success at Alter led him to a bevy of Power Five scholarship offers including Missouri, Duke, Boston College, and Georgia, to name a few. He ultimately chose Missouri, heading to the SEC as a marquee member of the Tigers’ Class of 2019.

Following his commitment, Bazelak’s college career has been anything but quiet.

After multiple stops, Bazelak’s career has culminated in his transfer to Bowling Green back in 2023. And he’s found success at each stop since, but perhaps none more than at BGSU.

    Bazelak’s Time at Missouri (2019-2021)

Bazelak started his college career at Missouri, where he showed flashes of his potential. In 2020, he earned SEC Co-Freshman of the Year honors after throwing for over 2,300 yards and completing 67% of his passes.

Despite some inconsistency, he became Missouri’s starting quarterback, demonstrating strong decision-making and accuracy. Bazelak gave Eli Drinkwitz a single season of great success in 2021 before transferring out.

    Bazelak’s Transfer to Indiana (2022)

After three seasons at Missouri, Bazelak transferred to Indiana. He started 11 games for the Hoosiers in 2022, throwing for 2,312 yards and 13 touchdowns.

However, Indiana struggled to find consistency on offense, and Bazelak faced challenges with injuries and an underperforming offensive line. His time at Indiana, though productive, didn’t lead to team success.

Bazelak Finds a Home Back At In Bowling Green (2023-2024)

Following the 2022 season, Bazelak transferred to Bowling Green for a fresh start. His experience as a starter at two Power Five programs made him one of the most seasoned leaders at the quarterback position across the MAC.

After spotty success at BGSU a season ago, the 2024 season started off with a bang and he hasn’t looked back since. The Falcons are a player in the MAC, and could give Penn State trouble in Week 2.
