Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders began reminiscing about the journey of his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, earlier in the week during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Colbert showed Sanders a photo of him and his two sons walking on the football field before their final game together with the Buffaloes.
While, in theory, anything is possible in the world of professional sports and, more specifically, the NFL, there is an anticipation that the famous Sanders trio could finally be heading in different directions. For the three to stay together, Coach Prime would need to make a move to the NFL — something that looks unlikely since coaching vacancies are quickly closing.
Coach Prime’s Reaction to Photo With Shedeur and Shilo Sanders
Colbert showed Sanders a photo of himself with his arms around Shedeur and Shilo ahead of their final game together with the Buffaloes this past season. Prime Time revealed that the photo brought back various memories and was emotional for him to look at.
“That is a tearjerker. That is hard. See, that picture there — it brings back so many thoughts because now I’m thinking about when we first started. When I was coaching them in youth, and they would lay their uniforms out in the closet because they were so excited and couldn’t wait to put them on the next morning. And I’m the coach.
“And we go from there at five and seven years old to all the way to [where] they’re now — young adults getting ready to go into the NFL,” Sanders stated.
The Sanders Family’s NFL Future
Coach Prime is expected to remain with the Buffaloes next season after the Dallas Cowboys promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach. Meanwhile, in College Football Network’s recent Ultimate 2025 NFL Draft Top 300 Big Board, Shedeur was listed as the No. 17 prospect available, while Shilo was included at No. 219.
CFN’s Top 300 Big Board ranks the best prospects available in this year’s NFL Draft, regardless of player position and respective team needs. As a result, it appears that the Sanders family may be going their separate ways for at least one football season.
