The Cincinnati Bearcats fired Wes Miller, reports claimed on Friday. Miller compiled a 100-74 (41-51 Big 12) record across five years with the Bearcats, and never took the team to the NCAA Tournament.
Since the Bearcats will be searching for a new coach for next season, here’s a look at some of the top candidates who could replace Miller.

#1. Jerrod Calhoun
Calhoun led Utah State to the MWC regular-season title this year. He is in his second year with the Aggies and has made a solid impression on the team. The Bearcats need a revival and could look into making a move for Calhoun in the offseason. For now, Calhoun will focus on helping his team win the Mountain West tournament before heading into March Madness.
#2. Joe Gallo
Gallo has been coaching at Merrimack since 2016. He has led the program to the MAAC regular-season title this year. Although the College Warriors lost to Siena in the MAAC Championship game earlier this week, Gallo is still considered one of the finest coaches in the conference.
#3. Travis Steele
Steele led Miami (OH) to the Mid-American Conference regular-season title this year with an unbeaten record. The RedHawks lost their first game of the season to Massachusetts, 87-83, in the opening round of the MAC tournament on Thursday. Steele has been the talk of the town this season and could give Cincinnati the boost it needs.

Hodgson won the American Conference regular-season title in his first year with South Florida this season. He has garnered a lot of attention for the work he has done with the Bulls in a short space of time. The Bearcats could monitor Hodgson’s situation at the end of the season as they need a rebuild.

Olen has grabbed headlines for his work at New Mexico in his first year with the team. He helped the Lobos earn a No. 3 seed for the Mountain West Tournament. New Mexico will face San Diego State in the conference tournament semifinal on Friday, and Olen could be a man in demand if he takes the team to the NCAA Tournament.
