Wisconsin just landed a commitment from three-star EDGE prospect Brody Pfannenstiel. The Kansas native announced that he was switching his commitment from Texas Tech to Wisconsin, giving Luke Fickell’s squad a boost ahead of the 2026 season.
Pfannenstiel had been committed to the Red Raiders since March, but after continuing conversations with Wisconsin’s coaching staff, he decided switching was the right thing to do.
Some fans saw the move as a positive step for the prospect.
“Good for him, he’ll have a better shot to play up there,” one fan wrote.
Others questioned why he would leave a program like Texas Tech.
“Why leave a playoff school in Texas Tech to go to a bottom dweller like Wisconsin,” another user commented.
“Bro just REALLY wanted to play with Sorsby,” one fan joked.
Another commenter took a more critical approach toward the Red Raiders.
“Tech is cooked. This is just the start,” the fan wrote.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech supporters remained confident that the loss would not impact the program’s long-term outlook.
“Landed 3 four-star players this weekend, thinking Tech will be alright,” one supporter wrote.
Why Brody Pfannenstiel Chose Wisconsin Over Texas Tech
The relationship Wisconsin built with both Pfannenstiel and his family played a major role in the decision.
“I had a great time there. My whole family had a great time there. They treated us really well, treated us like family.” – Pfannenstiel said to On3.
He also praised outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell for continuing to make efforts even after his commitment to Texas Tech.
“He stayed very consistent with me,” Pfannenstiel explained. “He even called me after I committed and said, ‘Congrats.’ He’s stuck with me, he cares, and wants to still recruit me.”
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender becomes Wisconsin’s fourth commitment flip in 2027.
While losing Pfannenstiel is disappointing for Texas Tech, the Red Raiders still maintain one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the Big 12.
For Wisconsin, this represents a good addition because Pfannenstiel already held offers from programs such as Ole Miss, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas State, Utah, Louisville, and Nebraska, but still chose to join the Badgers over them.
