Former Indiana QB Brendan Sorsby Transfers to Cincinnati

The college football transfer portal has been a wild ride since it opened up on December 4, notably within the quarterback position across the country. Brendan Sorsby announced his intentions to enter the portal back on November 26, following the firing of his former head coach, Tom Allen.

On Wednesday, Sorsby ended his transfer portal journey by announcing his commitment to the Cincinnati Bearcats.

    Brendan Sorsby Transfers to Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bearcats are a team in a bit of turmoil. New head coach Scott Satterfield had a rough first season in the Big 12 as the Bearcats limped to a 3-9 record with just a 1-8 record within the conference.

Sorsby makes the trek over from Bloomington to the Queen City to help right the ship.

A proven Power Five starter, Sorbsy’s transfer to Cincinnati gives the Bearcats a proven leader at the highest level, starting seven games this past season and flashing some top-tier talent when healthy.

Sorsby threw for 1,587 yards in 2023 with 15 touchdowns through the air and another four on the ground. He showcased some athleticism down the stretch with his legs, and an ability to continue to buy time in the pocket and outside of the structure of the offense.

Though the wins didn’t follow at Indiana, Sorsby flashed enough talent to lead a team and elevate talent around him. He put forth a strong display of accurate passes and throws that gave his receivers a chance to make a play, something the Cincinnati quarterback room certainly did not do in 2023.

Sorsby moves to Cincinnati, a team likely void of a bit of talent through departures in the transfer portal of their own. However, getting a player of Sorsby’s quality to start off their transfer portal acquisitions could do wonders for a team hoping to rebuild and compete in the Big 12 in 2024 and beyond.
