Bill O’Brien’s Salary, Contract, Net Worth, and More

Bill O'Brien had quite the offseason in 2024, and now finds himself at Boston College, but what is his salary, contract, and net worth with the Eagles?

Jeff Hafley’s departure from Boston College left the fanbase wondering how the administration would move forward. They didn’t waste any time finding a replacement, hiring Bill O’Brien as head coach to lead the program.

He brings multiple years of experience at both the professional and collegiate levels, and we can expect O’Brien to be compensated appropriately in his contract and salary.

Bill O’Brien’s Salary and Contract in 2024

While terms of Bill O’Brien’s contract and salary have not been released to the public, there’s strong speculation about how much he’ll make with the Eagles.

It was rumored that Hafley was making $3.1 million per year before he left to become the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, so O’Brien should make more. The departed Harley had signed a contract extension back in 2021.

There is speculation that O’Brien’s base salary will start at $5 million and be backloaded with incentives, but nothing official has been released, given that Boston College is a private school. This deal would be O’Brien’s largest salary in his coaching career, and the pool for his assistant coaches would likely be the highest he’s received as a head coach.

O’Brien agreed to become the offensive coordinator for Ohio State on January 19, 2024, but only held that title a few weeks before he departed to take the head coaching position with the Eagles.

O’Brien’s Net Worth

While we don’t know the exact numbers for his current contract, it’s not like O’Brien’s hurting for money. He’s been a successful head coach and offensive coordinator in the past and has been paid accordingly.

When he took over as Penn State’s head coach in 2012, he was paid handsomely, with a base salary of $2.3 million. When he left to become the head coach of the Houston Texans, he received up to $3 million before he was fired in 2020.

Alabama swooped in quickly to bring him to Tuscaloosa in 2021. O’Brien signed a two-year deal with a base salary of $1.1 million annually to run the Crimson Tide offense. He helped former quarterback Bryce Young win the Heisman Trophy during the 2021 season, and Eagles fans will hope he can bring a similar level of success on the field at Chestnut Hill.
