“Molly Jolly Can’t Be a Real Name”; “Unserious Franchise” – Fans Troll Angels After Front-Office Move Replacing John Carpino

Fans cracked jokes after the Los Angeles Angels made a major change to their front office before the 2026 season. With longtime president John Carpino stepping down, the Angels have replaced him with Molly Jolly.

Carpino served for 23 years before retiring from his role with the Angels. His stint began in 2009 and he was the president for 16 of those years. He was known as Angels owner Arte Moreno’s right-hand man.

Replacing him, Jolly will assume the president’s role on April 6. She was the Angels’ Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration before this promotion. With 26 years of experience working with the Angels organization, Jolly will become the first woman to serve as president in franchise history.

Given the Angels’ postseason drought, fans made sarcastic reactions on the front office following the update.

“Molly Jolly can’t be a real name,” one fan wrote.

“@Alden_Gonzalez @AngelsFaithful Lol the VP of Admin & Finance is taking over as Team President. Unserious franchise,” another fan added.

Several fans made fun of the name “Molly Jolly.”

“If your first name is Molly and his last name is Jolly, you can’t marry the guy,” one fan reacted.

“Molly Jolly? will negotiations be easy-peasy? the team fined for hanky-panky? the fans get hoity-toity? give you the heebie-jeebies? all about the hokey-pokey?” one fan asked.

“Molly Jolly can’t be a real name,” one fan commented.

“Molly Jolly has to be a Disney creation,” one fan added.

“I’m done with this franchise, man. I’m just done,” one fan wrote.

Angels Owner on Front Office Leadership Change

Angels owner Arte Moreno highlighted retiring John Carpino’s contribution to the franchise. He also explained the decision to hand the reins to well-experienced Molly Jolly, who is believed to be the only woman in the league to oversee both baseball and business departments.

“John has been one of the cornerstones of the organization for over two decades,” Moreno said in a statement. “His impact goes beyond the field, shepherding this organization through historic growth with an unwavering dedication to our fans, employees and our players. As we begin our 66th season, Molly’s deep experience in all aspects of the organization, and her passion for our community and team make her the perfect leader in our next chapter of Angels baseball.”

Jolly, who will now handle day-to-day operations, including marketing, communications, facility management, and overall business strategy, thanked Moreno for the new role.

“I would like to thank Arte and Carole Moreno for their trust, and to John Carpino for his mentorship and visionary leadership,” Jolly said in a statement. “I believe in the power of sports to unite, inspire and create a lasting impact. I care deeply about this team, our players and the community that supports us, and it is an honor to lead the Angels forward. My commitment is to help guide this team toward a successful future, strengthen our brand and our community partnerships.”

Previously, Jolly used to look after the Angels’ financial operations and office administration. She’s also treasurer and secretary of the Angels Baseball Foundation.
