MLB Insider Blasts Juan Soto Critics After $765M Star’s Remarks About Mets Teammates Sparks Controversy

New York Mets star Juan Soto was back in the starting lineup as the DH in Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins at Citi Field. The Dominican had been out on the injured list since April 3, when he suffered right-calf tightness during a regular-season match against the Giants in San Francisco.

The $765 million star went 1-3 with one walk in his comeback game against the Twins as the eternal underdogs of MLB snapped a 12-game losing streak and beat Minnesota 3-2 to level the three-game series 1-1.

After the match, Soto was interviewed by a host of media personnel at Citi Field, where one of them asked the Dominican whether he was in touch with his teammates during his 15-day stint on the IL, while the team was enduring a losing streak. Soto replied:

“No, not at all. I mean, they have been on the road most of the time, so  I haven’t talked to them.”

Facing backlash from fans for comments about his teammates, while Soto didn’t issue any clarification, MLB analyst Mike Rodriguez jumped into the star’s defense and voiced his take on X.

“Juan Soto doesn’t have to call anyone. He was the one who was injured, and his teammates are the ones who should show support and check on him: “Hey, my brother, you good? Recover calmly so you can come back even better.” Juan Soto doesn’t have to call them. #JuanSoto,” Rodriguez wrote on X.

Juan Soto and the Mets Will Aim to Close Out the Series Against the Twins

Soto, who has a .353 batting average, one HR, five RBIs, and a .921 OPS, has played just nine games this season. While the stat line looks impressive, the sample size is too small to extrapolate over the entire campaign. The Dominican star would be eyeing to consistently rack up some hits and get his team back to winning ways at the earliest.

The series finale between the Mets and the Twins will be played on Thursday, as the visitors will be starting Joe Ryan (2-2) on the mound, who will be up against Mets’ Christian Scott (0-0), who is set to start his first game of the season. New York will look to open its nine-game homestand with a series win over Minnesota tomorrow.
