Trevor Bauer, former Dodgers Ace and 2020 NL Cy Young winner with the Reds, achieved a rare no-hitter in only his second start for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Now in his first season with the independent league team after signing earlier this year, Bauer has had multiple stints across various international baseball leagues.
In 2023, he played with the Yokohama DeNa BayStars of the NPB, then moved to the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican League in 2024. He returned to Yokohama in 2025, then became a free agent and played in the U.S. for the first time in nearly 4 years with the Ducks. He also pitched on the opening of the Atlantic League last week.
As the video of Bauer’s no-hitter went viral, fans noticed something odd. Many pointed out the lack of excitement and celebration of the moment by his fellow Ducks teammates on the field.
“He was disliked by his teammates before the scandal, and he is disliked after the scandal. It was a 13-0 game. How crappy was the other team?” one fan commented.
“This idiot throws a no-hitter in the Atlantic League, and he’s acting like he’s still pitching for the Dodgers. What a clown,” another fan commented.
“Why didn’t his teammates celebrate with him?” yet another fan commented.
Some other fans pointed out that Bauer had pitched only seven scoreless innings, while a traditional baseball game has nine innings, with further extras until a winner is determined.
“Who celebrates a 7-inning no-hitter?” one fan commented.
“7 innings. Mercy rule + first game of double-header,” another fan commented.
“7 innings doesn’t count, this is literally a league that plumbers play in, a 53-year-old construction worker who hadn’t pitched since the 1990s was pitching in a game yesterday. This league is an absolute joke,” yet another fan commented.
Trevor Bauer Clapped Back at His Critics After Pitching the No-Hitter
Bauer took to X to fire back at his critics soon after pitching the no-hitter in the Atlantic League, writing, “Trevor Bauer sucks so much. He’s so washed.” The comment came as a response to the criticism he had been facing for his past year’s inconsistencies with the BayStars in the NPB.
Bauer will most likely make his next start against the Lexington Legends when the Ducks travel to Kentucky to play a six-game regular season series against the Legends at Fairfield Properties Ballpark starting Tuesday.
