Another one of the Mannings has taken a step in football, and to no surprise, he is also a quarterback. We’re talking about Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning’s cousin, Marshall Manning, who is the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.
Marshall has earned a varsity role as a freshman at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He will play backup behind quarterback Keegan Croucher in 2026, per Baylor School head coach Erik Kimrey.
The decision was announced on Kimrey’s appearance on Rivals’ Villamarzo’s Voice podcast, as he expressed excitement about the freshman’s development.
“Marshall Manning is our backup quarterback this year. He’ll be a freshman, so we’re excited about him,” Kimrey said on the podcast.
Marshall Manning joined Baylor School last year after previously attending Cherry Creek in Colorado. He also participated in the 2024 NFL Pro Bowl festivities, where he threw passes to NFL stars Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
In 2026, he will play behind Croucher, an Ole Miss pledge, but may receive varsity snaps in select situations.
Will Arch Manning Join Texas HC For SEC Media Days?
Entering his fourth season, Arch Manning will get a second run at the starting quarterback position after he failed to take the Longhorns into the College Football Playoff.
He remains the biggest storyline for the 2026 season in college football, and so many are looking forward to seeing him at the upcoming SEC Media Days.
On Tuesday, Texas announced that Manning, offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, and defensive end Colin Simmons will accompany head coach Sarkisian as the Longhorns’ three player representatives at the annual preseason event.
After spending the first two seasons behind Quinn Ewers, Manning is hoping to make the most out of his second full-start season. He is already viewed as a Heisman candidate; however, this is nothing new because the same expectations were made last year as well.
Texas is scheduled to appear on Thursday, July 23, the final day of SEC Media Days, alongside Arkansas, LSU, and Mississippi State. The event runs July 20-23 at the JW Marriott and Tampa Marriott Water Street in Tampa.
Manning would be asked questions centered on his 2025 season, expectations in the 2026 season, how he will manage the pressure that comes with his second name, and how he plans to take the Longhorns in the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket.
