“It Was Hard”: Arch Manning Opens Up About Challenges Faced After Surgery and Hardly Participating in Spring Practice

Arch Manning underwent a foot surgery in January after getting injured in one of the games during the 2025 season and hence missed the major chunk of spring practice this year.

Manning was burdened by expectations last year even before he stepped foot on the field as a starter. While he took some time to adjust and find his rhythm, the Longhorns star ended the year with 3,163 yards along with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Talking about his progress now in terms of the injury and the surgery that took place, Manning said he feels a 100% right now:

“Obviously when you’re not out there, you’re kind of antsy and it was hard the first few weeks, just not being able to do anything. Not being able to run or do anything was a little bit challenging but I think it was good rest for my body. Now I get to do a little bit more.

“I think I could have had more fun. The first half of the season, I was pissed. I wasn’t playing well and it wasn’t fun for me. And then I kind of sort of said screw it and had a little more fun and started winning some games.”

    Manning continued:

“It’s been different, but it’s been good. It’s honestly been unique for me getting a bunch of mental reps and kind of being off to the side. But I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with these new guys — freshmen, transfers — and guys coming back. So, it’s been fun.”

Arch Manning Talks About Plans With Longhorns for May

Arch Manning has now started throwing to his wide receivers in practice to prepare for the 2026 college football season.

Talking about what he’s going to do in May in terms of preparation for the upcoming season, Manning said he is going to try to get together with his receivers, Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo, and have them down in New Orleans.

“Eat some good food, maybe go fishing. So it’ll be fun. And then also get away. I’m going to go on a family vacation and just enjoy the time off. That’s the only time we get off the whole year,” Manning added.

Manning emphasized that college football players only get this one month as time off unlike the NFL where you get a whole offseason.
